It really makes sense to lock up your core players before they hit their prime. I think it's evident that this aspect of the game has changed, and locking up key parts of the team for long term savings is the way to go.<BR/><BR/>As far as Colby Rasmus goes, it would be nice if he could get a late season call-up and hit the ground running, kind of like what Jacoby Elsbury did last year.
