Playing for Peanuts - 1.1

I'm really enjoying this year's baseball league championship battles. The Rays and the Dodgers are my two picks for the World Series, although the Dodgers have some more digging to do. Not much has come this way concerning Cardinals news, but that's expected in the middle of the ALCS and NLCS.

A couple weeks ago, a man by the name of John Fitzgerald contacted me about screening episodes of his new TV show called "Playing for Peanuts." The show focuses on a year in the life of the South Georgia Peanuts, an "independent team based in Albany, GA in the now defunct South Coast League." In his words:
"Playing for Peanuts" was filmed alot like an independent film - it was financed with credit cards and our camera crew lived much like the players we were filming, surviving on fast food, cheap hotels and a shoestring budget. The show was seen on 9 regional sports networks in 9 cities and has been featured in The New York Times, New York Post and the Chicago Daily Herald.
With all the buzz that's starting to surround our own minor league system, a system that has included quite a few graduates of independent teams, I thought it'd be worthwhile to start sharing episodes with our Cardinal community each week. The Cardinals also tend to offer a few contracts each off-season to independent league players, with Josh Kinney being our most notable independent league-signee, so you can perhaps get a better understanding of what they've had to go through.

Without further ado, I give you the first episode of "Playing for Peanuts." Let us know what you think in the comments.
