Not a whole lot happening in the past couple of days. Alexei Ramirez signed a deal with the White Sox that I wish the Cardinals would've offered - 4 years/$4.75 million. The Reds made a good sell-high move, trading Josh Hamilton to the Rangers for stud prospect Edison Volquez. And the Mark Prior Derby includes about ten teams striving for his services. The White Sox and Rangers completely pulled out of the race.
For the Merry Christmas news of the day, the Cardinals signed Cliff Politte to a minor league deal. It's always a good thing to bring in a good amount of arms to showcase their stuff in Spring Training. It's very possible he could see playing time at some point this season, but he'll probably need to prove himself in Triple-A first. Chris Perez and Jason Motte could see playing time as relievers as well.
This is my Merry Christmas post, so have a great next couple of days. I hope you get all the Cardinals gifts you have on your Christmas list!
